Patients under the age of 18 must be acompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and this person must remain on premises for the entire visit (unless emancipated minor).

All patients must make arrangements for someone to drive them home from the surgery center and possibly stay with them for 24 hours.


The nurse will get the patient ready for surgery in the pre-op admitting area. Then, two family members will be permitted to wait with the patient until he or she is taken into the operating room. After surgery, families will be notified when the patient has been taken to the secondary recovery room. Two family members may join the patient and should remain there until the patient is ready to go home. The main lobby waiting room is also available.


You (or your insurance company) will receive separate bills from:

  • Delmarva Surgery Center for the use of the facility including the holding rooms, operating rooms, recovery room, medications and all equipment and supplies
  • Your anesthesiologist.
  • Your surgeon.
  • A pathologist and laboratory if a tissue sample was removed.

Delmarva Surgery Center will bill your insurance company if you have provided us with the necessary information. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to see that they pay on time. Upon request, you may receive a statement copy to retain for your records.
